CIE

Council-certified Indoor Environmentalist (CIE)
CIE experience and training covers a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to:

  Industrial Hygiene – The Environmental Consultant understands the sources and potential effects of chemicals and other substances in the indoor environment, from asbestos to formaldehyde to VOCs.

  Building Sciences – The Environmental Consultant understands the building envelope and has experience in the disciplines related to the design, construction and operation of buildings. These disciplines include architecture, building codes, HVAC, plumbing, insulation, concrete and building materials, weather proofing, facilities maintenance, acoustics, ergonomics, air and moisture flows, pressure relationships, temperature and humidity monitoring, infrared thermography and diagnostic air sampling.

  Environmental Risk Assessment – The Environmental Consultant understands the consequences (intended and unintended) of building design, operation and maintenance decisions and their potential to impact overall environmental quality.

CRMI

Council-certified Residential Mold Inspector (CRMI)
CRMI training specializes in structural inspection of real estate for visible evidences of conditions associated with indoor mold issues and basic sampling regimen designed to confirm suspected mold contamination. The inspector recommends the services of a consultant or remediator when contamination is present.

   IAQ CERTIFYING BODIES:
The American Indoor Air Quality Council (AmIAQC):
The AmIAQC promotes awareness, education and certification in the field of Indoor Air Quality by establishing credible certifications that provide lasting value to professionals, their clients and the public. The organization's goal is to serve the public interest with integrity as an independent certifying body.

AmIAQC certifications are accredited by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB).


   IAQ INDUSTRY STANDARDS:

Indoor Environmental Standards Organization (IESO) is a non-profit organization that provides a national forum for the development and publication of voluntary consensus standards for the assessment of indoor environments. As an American National Standards Institute Accredited Standards Developer, IESO's mission is to be the foremost developer and provider of voluntary consensus indoor environmental quality standards, related technical information, and services having recognized quality and applicability that promote public health and safety, and the overall quality of life.

   IAQ MEMBERSHIP ORGANIZATIONS & ASSOCIATIONS:

The Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA) is a non-profit, 501(c)(6) organization established in 1995 to promote uniform standards, procedures and protocols in the Indoor Air Quality industry. It's membership serves a diverse range of professions and trades including Environmental Consultants, HVAC Practitioners, Design Engineers, Restorers and Remediators, Industrial Hygienists, Building & Facilities Managers, Attorneys, Manufacturers Reps and many others in related fields.

The RespirNet is a national network of independent professionals dedicated to practicing standards of excellence in their respective specialty fields related to Indoor Air Quality.  RespirNet Associates:

  Practice their profession in strict compliance with standards and guidelines established by recognized industry trade groups, including the Indoor Environmental Standards Organization (IESO).

  Utilize only RespirNet authorized accredited laboratories.

  Subject all analytical data for review by a Certified Indoor Environmentalist (CIE), a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), a Certified Indoor Air Quality Manager (CIAQM) or other industry recognized certified professional. Maintain active memberships in professional indoor air quality industry trade groups.
